The 800-Pound SEO Gorilla

On the Job Site
Reduce, reuse, RECYCLE

By Zaher Karp

During Madison’s construction season, it can feel as though the city is constantly rebuilding itself. These building projects fuel and are fueled by job-site recycling. The organizations that raze these buildings are moving, like other industries, toward greener alternatives. J.H. Findorff & Son is one of many companies pursuing more environmentally friendly demolition options. Recipient of the 2007 Commitment Award from WasteCap Wisconsin, Findorff “feels it is [their] obligation to support the designers regarding the life-cycle costs, environmental impacts and human factors” that can meet users’ needs.
Like other local organizations, Findorff employs personnel who are LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a rating system for green buildings. LEED promotes an approach to sustainability in five areas sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

What to do with your 401(k) plan One of the most important decisions that you will make when you change jobs is what to do with 401(k) funds from your previous employer. Assets in 401(k) plans stood at a whopping $2.40 trillion in 2005, and even though your chunk of that total may be modest, it is definitely worth protecting.
